A Warm Welcome to The Nutbrook Petanque Club

We are a  friendly group of people who enjoy getting together socially and to play petanque. We are of all ages and gender and love being outside and competing on all levels.

What is Petanque

The game originated in France in 1907 but is played all over Europe and in varying forms all over the world. Basically players in teams of one, two or three a side throw up to three metal balls (boules), alternately, on a gravel piste to get nearest to a small wooden ball (cochonnet). The nearest win the points. This continues at alternate ends until a score of 13 is reached.

Our Club

We meet throughout the year on Sundays, Tuesday afternoons and summer Friday evenings at our piste in West Hallam, Derbyshire. There is a Thursday evening league that takes place throughout the summer for the more competitive amongst us.

Come and Join us.

You are welcome to come down and join us for a game whether you have played before or never ever played. We have all of the equipment you need and will be more than willing to show you how to play or just let you join in. You could even call down to see how it’s done and we will explain the play to you.

We look forward to seeing you.
